More on How We Work Together

A design process built around listening first, then creating spaces that feel like they’ve always been yours.

Every project begins with a conversation — not a mood board, not a floor plan, not a Pinterest link. Before any design decisions are made, I want to understand how you actually live in your home. What mornings look like. Where you gravitate when you need quiet. Which pieces you’ve carried from place to place because you can’t imagine a room without them. The design process that follows is collaborative, transparent, and built around your story. Here’s how it unfolds.

01 Discovery

It starts with a brief phone call or email to discuss your project, your timeline, and whether we’re the right fit for each other. From there, we schedule an initial consultation — either on-site or virtual — where we walk through your space together. I’ll ask about how you use each room, what’s working and what isn’t, your goals for the project, and the investment range you’re comfortable with. This conversation shapes everything that follows. Once we’re aligned, I’ll prepare a detailed proposal covering scope of work, fees, timeline, and payment schedule. When you’re ready to move forward, we sign a design agreement and collect a retainer to begin.

02 Concept

With a signed agreement in place, we move into the creative work. I begin with precise site measurements and documentation, capturing every dimension, architectural detail, and existing condition. This becomes the foundation for space planning and floor plans that address how you want each room to function. From there, I develop the conceptual direction — mood boards, color palettes, material explorations, and design inspirations that translate your vision into something you can see and feel. I’ll present this concept to you in a dedicated session where we refine the direction together. Nothing moves forward without your input and enthusiasm.

03 Curation

This is where decades of sourcing experience come to bear. I select every element — furnishings, fabrics, lighting, hardware, art, and accessories — working within your approved budget. Each piece is chosen not just for how it looks in isolation, but for how it contributes to the composition of the room as a whole. I present the full selection to you with a detailed review of timeline and investment, so you can see exactly what your space will become and what it will cost. Your approval drives the next phase. There are no surprises.

04 Execution

Once selections are approved, I manage the entire procurement process — purchasing, tracking lead times, coordinating shipping and deliveries, and resolving the logistical details that clients should never have to think about. When construction or renovation is part of the project, I coordinate with contractors and tradespeople to keep the work on schedule and aligned with the design intent. When everything arrives, the installation unfolds in a carefully sequenced process: furniture placement, lighting, window treatments, art hanging, and final styling down to the last object on the shelf.

05 Reveal

The best part. We walk through the finished space together so you can experience every room, every detail, every decision in its final form. I’ll review care instructions for materials and furnishings, answer any questions, and make sure everything is exactly right. After project closeout, I follow up to see how the space is living — because a well-designed room should feel better at six months than it did on day one. And if you ever need anything down the road, I’m a phone call away.
